Swing stage winch services in Sydney
Electrical and mechanical servicing, inspection, testing, fault finding, rewiring and overhaul for Sky Climber and Power Climber winches and control equipment.
Service options
Specialist servicing for suspended access equipment, with electrical and mechanical work in one workshop. We quote on enquiry, because the work depends on the condition of each winch.
Inspection & testing
Inspection and operational testing of the winch, including assessment of its condition and performance.
6-month preventive mechanical service
A preventive service to find wear, defects and developing problems before they become failures. Service documentation is provided subject to inspection results.
Annual standard service
A comprehensive annual service for winches that need the higher level of servicing identified by inspection, condition or service requirements.
Manufacturer-recommended overhaul
A major overhaul where required, based on equipment condition, manufacturer recommendations and inspection findings.
Electrical fault finding & troubleshooting
Diagnosis and repair of electrical faults involving motors, controls, contactors, wiring, protection and associated equipment.
Complete winch rewire
Replacement of the winch electrical wiring, with associated testing.
6-month preventive service and certification
The 6-month service is a preventive service, not a routine sign-off. Each winch is inspected and assessed for safe operation, mechanical condition and its stated Working Load Limit (WLL).
- Where the winch passes inspection and operates correctly within its WLL, the 6-month service documentation or certificate can be issued.
- If we find a condition that could affect safe operation or load performance, the winch is not simply signed off. Further servicing may be recommended or required before it returns to service.
- We test and tag the equipment, and issue our own service tags and certificate for the equipment we service.
When an annual standard service is required
- Unable to carry the required load or WLL: the winch cannot show satisfactory load performance.
- Slipping: the winch slips, fails to hold correctly or shows abnormal load-holding behaviour.
- Abnormal noise: grinding, knocking, excessive humming or other unusual mechanical noise.
- Oil leakage: visible oil leakage or lubricant escaping from the gearbox or related components.
- Other significant defects: wear, damage or a condition that needs a higher level of service.
In these cases we recommend an annual standard service, not a routine 6-month preventive service.
Why specialist servicing matters
- Electrical and mechanical: swing stage winches and control boxes contain safety-critical electrical and mechanical systems.
- Load performance: a winch should not be judged only by whether the motor runs. Its ability to operate and hold the required WLL is critical.
- Condition-based servicing: inspection findings decide whether a preventive service is enough or further servicing or repair is required.
- Trained by the manufacturer: our service technician is trained by Sky Climber and is also a licensed electrician.
- One workshop: mechanical servicing, electrical fault finding, rewiring, testing and major repairs.
